Some thirty domestic subcontractors identified for Algerian-Emirati-German industrial projects

ALGIERS- Thirty domestic subcontractors were identified as part of the Algerian-Emirati-German partnership projects for the development of mechanical engineering industry under the German Daimler (Mercedes) group’s brand, the Director of Military Industries at the Defence Ministry, Major General Rachid Chouaki said Tuesday in Algiers.

The Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Industry, SMEs and Investment Promotion work in coordination to launch the subcontracting activity, which will provide "added value to our industry," he indicated, adding that these partnerships represent "a major technology progress for our country."

Speaking on the sidelines of the visit of a Daimler group delegation to the SNVI complex in Rouiba (east of Algiers) to finalize these projects, Chouaki called on domestic subcontractors to improve their competitiveness to be selected as parts suppliers for these projects.

The benefit of the projects, which are expected to start late 2013 or in early 2014, will be largely positive with the creation of more than 800 direct jobs, he explained.
