African Investment and Business Forum kicks off in Algiers

ALGIERS – The works of the African Investment and Business Forum started Saturday in Algiers at the Abdellatif-Rahal International Center of Conferences, with over 1,000 African participants, including 800 businessmen from 40 African countries.


The opening session of this three-day forum was attended by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and a number of ministers.


The meeting also brings together representatives international financial institutions like the World Bank, the African Development Bank (ADB), The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Islamic Bank for Development (BID).


In addition to intensifying trade with the African countries, Algeria is aiming, through this forum,  at forging industrial partnership with these countries, some of which have made tremendous progress in the field of new technologies, energy and the mining industry in particular.


Panels will be held on six themes namely: strategic economic visions of African countries, energy, investment financing, infrastructure, ICT, agriculture and agri-food.
