Reinvigorating Algeria-Iran Industrial Committee to boost cooperation

TEHERAN- The reinvigoration of the Algerian-Iranian Industrial Committee after eight years of standstill would be a step forward towards the strengthening and boosting industrial cooperation between Algeria and Iran, which expressed, during the visit of Minister of Industry and Mining Abdessalem Bouchouareb to Teheran, their willingness to seize every opportunity to build an integrated economic partnership between the two countries.

The minutes of the 2nd meeting of the Committee, set up in 2003, provides for the strengthening of cooperation between the ministries of Industry of Algeria and Iran and the financing institutions of the two countries, in order to facilitate the funding of joint industrial projects.

The minutes was signed by Bouchouareb and Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh.

The two sides agreed to hold annual meetings and Algeria would host the next meeting in May 2017.

Bouchouareb underlined that "Algeria is committed, more than ever, to build an effective partnership with Iran."

The minister said that Algeria seeks to draw on Iran's experience to diversify its national economy and industry, especially as Iran has managed to reduce its dependence on hydrocarbon despite the international sanctions imposed on it for many years.

Bouchouareb said that lifting international sanctions on Iran would open new prospects for cooperation and partnership between the two countries in all economic fields.

For his part, the Iranian minister expressed his country's readiness to "make Algeria benefit from its experience in industrial and economic fields," adding that the two countries are linked by deep and long-standing relations.
