Algerian-Iranian partnership project in energy efficiency

TEHRAN- Algeria and Iran will launch a partnership project to assist Algeria in the field of energy efficiency, notably in the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG), said Monday in Tehran Minister of Industry and Mining Abdessalem Bouchouareb.

At the end of his talks with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh, Bouchouareb told APS that he broached the possibility to create a partnership with the Iranian side, which has succeeded in converting 1.7 million vehicles of its vehicle fleet, to assist Algeria in its national energy efficiency programme.

This programme plans to create, added the minister, in every province micro-enterprises specialized in the conversion of vehicles in collaboration with the National Agency for Youth Employment (ANSEJ).

In this regard, the Iranian side will transfer its “proven” experience in this field to Algeria, according to the minister who underlined that the two-thirds of the Iranian vehicles (Saipa), which will be manufactured in Algeria, will be equipped with a CNG compressor.
