Algeria, South African operators called to increase business flow

ALGIERS- Minister of Industry and Mining Abdesselam Bouchouareb called on Tuesday in Algiers the Algerian and South African businessmen to increase their efforts so that to give a new boost to the economic relations between the two countries.

“The current level of trading and investments is far from reflecting the real potential which is ours,” said Bouchouareb in an Algerian-South African economic meeting, held on the occasion of President Jacob Zuma’s visit to Algiers.

Development challenges, he added, “requires giving a new boost from today” to the multisectoral cooperation, as well as trading between the two countries.

While calling the operators to increase efforts and initiatives to give to the Algerian-South African partnership “the dimension it deserves,” Bouchouareb underlined the need to explore the existing complementarities existing between the two countries.

The Minister cited particularly the mines where South Africa has a long experience as a “priority” sector for cooperation, but also food processing industry, electric industry, electronics, motor cars, textile, pharmaceutical industry and information and communication technologies (ICTs), building, public works and energy.
