Rouiba plant releases new Mercedes Benz truck model

ALGIERS- A new truck model, assembled in Algeria of Mercedes Benz brand, was released Tuesday from the plant of the National Company of the Industrial Vehicles (SNVI) of Rouiba (Algiers), fruit of the Algerian-German-Emirati investment.

The ceremony of the release of this first military truck of type Mercedes-Zetros 6X6 in its version of transport of troops was chaired by Major General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, vice-minister of National defense, Chief of Staff of the National Popular Army (ANP), at the headquarters of the Algerian Company for the production of Mercedes-Benz trucks of Rouiba (SAPPL-MB), in the presence of representatives of German and Emirati partners.

Following the release of Actros 2041S in April 2014, the SAPPL-MB launched the Zetros 2733A of Mercedes Benz brand which Algerian models are mainly meant for the National Defence Ministry (MDN).

"The release of this military truck is the culmination of a process leading to meeting the bulk of national needs in road transport means by a high quality range, same as provided by Daimler Group," officials said.

The SAPPL-MB Company was founded in 2012 with a capital of €103 million Euros. The majority of shares (51%) are held by the Algerian side through SNVI (34%) and the National Defence Ministry (17%), while 49% of shares are owned by Emirati Aabar.

The German Daimler/Mercedes-Benz is the technology partner.
